The reason I love softball is:
It's my getaway from everything. I love the feeling after you throw a runner out or pick one off. There is nothing else that compares to it. Well that and toilet papering gives you such a rush.

My ultimate SportsCenter highlight would be:
Throwing Kristin Scharkey out trying to steal a base.  ;]

One thing about softball that spectators likely aren't aware of is:
When we call time we make jokes about how crazy some of the fans sound.

My favorite off-day activity is:
Wait a second... when you play softball there is never an off-day. :] haha I love to play catch with the football and go on long walks on the beach.

As I look back over my time in the Esperanza softball program, my fondest memories include:
Plotting a senior prank to block off Short Street and make it look like a crime scene so we wouldn't have to run it. But then again we only had to run it once this year.

After I graduate from Esperanza, I'd like to be remembered as:
One of the smartest girls to ever go through the program with a 4.8 grade point average.

My plans for next year include:
Attending Concordia University in Irvine to become an athletic trainer because I just cant get enough of sports!!!

The best advice I'd pass along to the underclassmen is:
Just keep running, just keep running, just keep running, running, running.

The reason I love softball is:
I love softball for the competition and the intensity that you can only find on the field. The adrenaline pumping and the feeling of a win are just impossible to find anywhere else. Of course, the incredible friendships that are forged on the field are priceless, and remain above any other great thing that this sport can offer.

My ultimate SportsCenter highlight would be:
My SportsCenter highlight happened when I was in 16U, on my travelball team. We were in Vegas for a Memorial Day tournament, and you could see the sea of colors and neon lights of the famous Vegas Strip from the field we were playing on, playing the championship game no doubt. There were two outs, runner on second, and I was coming up to the plate. You could feel the intensity and the electricity of the moment crackling through the air. All of a sudden, I had two strikes on me, and then it happened. The bat made this incredible sound, and the ball that was once a high pitch went soaring above and beyond center field, all the way to the fence, which seemed to be miles away. It was so far, in fact, that I was rounding third base when they finally picked up the ball. So, I crossed home plate, into the throng of hands and smiles and claps on my back and helmet. Truly a moment for all moments, for all time. By the way, did I mention that we were previously losing by one run? oops.

One thing about softball that spectators likely aren't aware of is:
Spectators don't really have the chance to feel the intensity and the cut-throated feeling that weighs down every player in a game. Even if you win 48 to 0, you still feel a sense of being drained; the intensity and stress of every pitch, every second, where anything can and will happen, can drain you like not very many other things can.

My favorite off-day activity is:
When I have an off-day, I love to visit old friends or just watch movies, mostly with my mom. If those things are not available for b
ooking my time, you can always find me curled up in a corner with either a book or a pen and pad of paper, writing down anything that comes to mind (hopefully the workings of a future novel or poetry anthology).

As I look back over my time in the Esperanza softball program, my fondest memories include:
Having the chance to meet such great people, and to spend time with those friends, is the true crowning jewel of my time here. Beating Mater Dei was kinda fun too, I suppose (now all we have left is LOS AL!!!).

After I graduate from Esperanza, I'd like to be remembered as:
I would like to be remembered as the "envoy to the lowerclassmen." :) However, I want to be seen not only as an envoy to them, but to everyone else on the team as well. I want to be remembered as someone you could always come to with problems or if you just needed a friend to talk to, someone who was trusted and loved as a great friend, helpful in every way she could have possibly been. A true-blue, genuine person.

My plans for next year include:
I would like to pursue my passion for writing and acting next year when I am in college
.

The best advice I'd pass along to the underclassmen is:
Be true first to yourself, then to everyone around you -- then you will never wander astray from the path that holds everything you can be. Be open to others and everything they have to say, their opinions, beliefs, everything; Strive for anything and everything, and you will never go wrong. You have a power inside you, a truth that only you can discover....so, discover it. At the bottom of all the fancy words and philosophy, however, lies this one thing to live by: make sure you have tons of fun -- high school only happens once!! ;)

The reason I love softball is:
I love softball because it's my release. When I have a bad day or things aren't going the way I plan softball always seems to make it better. Whether it is getting up to bat and hitting the ball, turning a double play or just hanging with my teammates, the day always seem to turn itself around.

My ultimate SportsCenter highlight would be:
My ultimate SportsCenter highlight was when my team was in Colorado trying to qualify for 18 gold nationals and the other team was winning by 1 run and it was the bottom of the 7th inning. We were up to bat, I got up with a runner on second and hit a double scoring the tying run. The next batter gets up, I had stolen third, and she hits a line drive in the hole scoring me, the WINNING run.

One thing about softball that spectators likely aren't aware of is:
Spectators don't know all the emotion that goes into softball. Every player has their good days and their bad days. Heart and desire are two of the largest components in this game, if you don't have them, you don't have what it takes.

My favorite off-day activity is:
Hanging with my friends and family. I love being out and about and just having fun with the people I love.

As I look back over my time in the Esperanza softball program, my fondest memories include:
My fondest memories include laughing and having a great time with my teammates and coaches too.

After I graduate from Esperanza, I'd like to be remembered as:
I want to be remembered as Ashley MacQueen "that cute little red head" (JUST KIDDING). As I graduate from Esperanza I want to be remembered as a dedicated player that did everything she could to improve her game.

My plans for next year include:
My plan for next year is to attend Colorado State University (GO RAMS!!!) and play softball for Coach Yori.

The best advice I'd pass along to the underclassmen is:
Don't show attitude it's your worst enemy! Remain positive even when things aren't going your way. (Trust me this is easier said than done.)

The reason I love softball is:
It keeps me in shape and it's one thing I just love to do. I love the fact that younger girls look up to me like my little cousins.

My ultimate SportsCenter highlight would be:
I'm still thinking...

One thing about softball that spectators likely aren't aware of is:
You must be aware of your game. It's all mental. If you're not focused, something might happen that could cost you the game.

My favorite off-day activity is:
Hanging out with my best friends Andrew Jimenez, Chelsie Schaal and Ko Renolds and my boyfriend Tyler Anderson. I also love going to senior outings and going to the movies. I love the beach along with sunsets. And most of all hanging with my family.

As I look back over my time in the Esperanza softball program, my fondest memories include:
Coach Ed and Ted yelling at me to improve what I'm doing wrong and Coach Ski on the side laughing at me!  :-)

After I graduate from Esperanza, I'd like to be remembered as:
Jackie Munoz--the girl who never shuts her mouth! Hahaha

My plans for next year include:
Playing softball at a JC and then transferring over to a University after my sophomore year.

The best advice I'd pass along to the underclassmen is:
Live life to your fullest and follow your dreams.

The reason I love softball is:
I've been doing it since I was 4 and it's just fun to get out there and try your hardest, and be with your friends.

My ultimate SportsCenter highlight would be:
A diving catch.

One thing about softball that spectators likely aren't aware of is:
It's almost all mental. Your skill is a necessity but if your head is not in the game you're not going to perform to the best of your ability.

My favorite off-day activity is:
Going to the beach and just spending time with my friends. Just really taking a moment to relax.

As I look back over my time in the Esperanza softball program, my fondest memories include:
Bus rides to games, and hanging out with Ski and listening to all of his crazy stories.

After I graduate from Esperanza, I'd like to be remembered as:
Someone who worked hard and never gave up.

My plans for next year include:
Go to a junior college and continue to play softball.

The best advice I'd pass along to the underclassmen is:
Make academics your top priority, and go hard.
